ELECTIONS AND MEMBERSHIP VOTES
Officers can be nominated by the Steering Committee or COPE membership. Votes will be carried by a simple majority of the members present at a COPE event or meeting for which rostered members have received advanced notification (e.g., LSA annual conference, COPE annual retreat).
OFFICERS
The officers shall be a Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. They shall be elected for two-year terms that are staggered for continuity. The Chair and Vice-Chair are to be elected on even numbered years, and the Treasurer and Secretary on odd numbered years.
Officer Responsibilities:
CHAIR
- Prepares meeting agendas and leads COPE Steering Committee meetings
- Coordinates conference calls with LSA
- Communicates upcoming events, meetings and initiatives with COPE members
- Leads the coordination of the COPE meeting at the LSA Conference
- Acts as the primary liaison with LSA
VICE CHAIR
- Assists the Chair in the execution of all leadership responsibilities
- Conducts Chair, Treasurer and Secretary responsibilities in the absence of those positions
- Leads the Steering Committee in the coordination of the annual retreat
- Participates in all Steering Committee meetings
TREASURER
- Coordinates financial reporting with LSA
- Prepares financial report for business meetings
- Ensures financial integrity of the network and advises Steering Committee of financial status
- Helps coordinate payment for expenses related to network operations and the annual retreat
- Ensures membership dues collections
- Participates in all Steering Committee meetings
SECRETARY
- Prepares and distributes minutes of all meetings
- Helps Chair communicate upcoming events, meetings and initiatives to network members
- Participates in all Steering Committee meetings
STEERING COMMITTEE
The Steering Committee shall be made up of the officers, and the Technology Liaison (a volunteer COPE member who maintains the COPE web site information, with support from an LSA Networks liaison.
The Steering Committee is authorized to act on behalf of COPE in all matters, including the authorization to expend COPE funds. It may fill vacancies in the Committee's membership as they occur for the unexpired portion of the vacant position's term.
